Accessibility

How we make blastic.com usable for everyone.

Last updated: 22 October 2026

At Blastic, we are committed to making our website accessible to as many people as possible, regardless of technology or ability. We strive to meet recognised accessibility standards to ensure a user-friendly experience for everyone.

Standards and guidelines

We aim to conform to WCAG 2.1 level AA (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines), the level referenced by the European standard EN 301 549 and the European Accessibility Act (EAA).

This statement covers www.blastic.com in English and Dutch.

Accessibility testing

Our site is regularly tested using:

  • Automated scans of every English and Dutch page with Pa11y, axe-core and HTML_CodeSniffer
  • Manual keyboard-only navigation testing
  • Screen reader spot-checks with NVDA and VoiceOver

We continually monitor and improve areas flagged during these audits.

Features to support accessibility

  • Proper HTML5 semantics and ARIA roles, including breadcrumbs, lists and heading structure
  • The correct page language on every page, so screen readers pronounce English and Dutch content correctly
  • Text and interface colours that meet the WCAG AA contrast ratios
  • Keyboard access to all interactive elements, including scrollable code examples
  • Expandable FAQs built with native HTML, usable with keyboard and screen readers
  • Respect for the "reduce motion" setting of your operating system
  • Responsive, scalable design for screen zooming
  • Alt text for images and descriptive link text
  • Form labels and error handling designed with accessibility in mind

Recent improvements

In October 2026 we completed an accessibility review of the site and its content:

  • Raised the colour contrast of text, labels and code examples across templates and pages
  • Added a dark overlay to text on photo backgrounds
  • Fixed the page language on Dutch pages
  • Made code examples reachable and scrollable with the keyboard
  • Replaced inline styling on campaign pages with structured, accessible markup
  • Cleaned up broken list markup, empty links and leftover translation-tool code in Dutch content

Current status

Our most recent automated scan (22 October 2026) covered all 284 English and Dutch pages and found no measurable errors against WCAG 2.1 AA. The remaining findings are items that automated tools cannot judge and that need manual review; they are listed below.

Automated tools detect only part of all accessibility issues, so a clean scan does not by itself mean full conformance.

Known issues

We are aware of the following areas that may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA:

  • Text on photo backgrounds (page headers): we apply a dark overlay, but automated tools cannot measure contrast on images, so these remain flagged for manual review.
  • Text inside diagrams on some articles is part of an image (SVG) and cannot always be checked automatically.
  • Videos: the video in the Novy case study has no captions yet, and embedded videos from third parties may have a generic title for screen readers.

We are working to address these in future updates.
